Workstation from Goldenboy OAVThere is an amazing amount of work that goes into rendering scenes like the workstation above (from the OAV Goldenboy). Notice how all the objects are faithfully drawn so much so that any computer programmer would recognize the Sun Sparq and Apple Macintosh Performa computers in the scene. This attention to detail is the complete opposite of the cartoony iconic philosphy used to render characters but is essential in connecting the audience into the anime world and gives the world a realistic weight and feel.

Crystal Geyser from Escaflowne the Movie

No detail is too small. Even the most trivial items like this bottle of Crystal Geyser water from the Escaflowne Movie are beautifully recreated even when they are not essential to the main plot and used for just a brief scene.

Tag Heuer watch from Gunbuster OAV Even in futuristc anime, products are well designed and branded with familiar or popular brand names like this "Tag Heuer" watch from the Gunbuster OAV. Sometimes the names are altered or changed (so people watch "Pony" instead of "Sony" TVs) to avoid copyright infringement but other than that, the designs are right on.

As far as I know, these are not paid advertisements or endorsements but more a reflection of the artists prefered "products" and "brands" and add realism to the fantasy world of anime.
