SuperDeformed (or "SD" for short) is when a regular or normally serious character switches to a compacted and more "cute" paraody version of him or herself. This happens when the character is acting extremely silly or mischeivous and the transformation into the SD may happen in any anime or manga and at almost any moment. Do not be mistaken, it is still the same character, only with the more manic side of his or her personality showing!
